CONSULTATION

Ten hours of phone consultation is included with the EMDR basic training provided by Dr. Hurley.  Five hours are provided following EMDR part 1 and five additional hours are provided following the EMDR part 2 training.

Additionally, Dr. Hurley provides individual and group consultation to EMDR trained clinicians who have been previously trained and seek speciality consultation in treating military and veteran populations using EMDR therapy.

As a retired Army Colonel with over 33 years of military experience, ranging from enlistment during the Vietnam era to the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT), his EMDR trainings intregrate the standard EMDR basic training with his understanding of the military and veteran cultures and years of clinical experience using EMDR therapy to treat a wide range of clinical issues including combat trauma, military sexual trauma and moral injury issues.  He is the founder and executive director of SOLDIER CENTER, a psychotherapy center with a staff dedicated to providing effective treatment to military personnel, veterans and their families, assisting them to reclaim their lives.  Dr. Hurley demonstrates his EMDR  training with video presentations of his work treating military personnel and veterans daily since 9/11.  His trainings are designed to prepare participants to begin treating their military and veteran population including those with complex PTSD.  Additional information regarding E. E. C. Hurley founded Soldier Center to provide effective treatment for military personnel, veterans, first-responders and their families following 9-11-01.  Retired from the U.S. Army after 33 years of active and reserve service, he has spent much of his professional life wearing the uniform and caring for this special population.  Having served from

Private E-1 to Colonel in the U.S. Army, he brings an understanding and affinity to the population he serves.  He began treating members of the 101st Airborne Division and the special operations community at Ft Campbell, KY in 2003.  As the results of his work became known, soldiers from Warrior Transition units began to be referred to Dr. Hurley and Soldier Center, for his EMDR 10-day intensive treatment program.  Research results of his clinical work are published in the artice Effective Treatment of Veterans With PTSD: Comparison Between Intensive Daily andWeekly EMDR Approaches (Hurley, 2018) comparing EMDR intensive daily treatment with weekly sessions with outcome measured at one year follow-up.

He is author of the chapter "EMDR therapy in the treatment of military sexual trauma" in the book Treating military sexual trauma edited by Katz, L, (2015) and coauthored a chapter on EMDR therapy in the publication PTSD Case Book (2015) published by the American Psychological Association.  His published research  Dr. Hurley is author of the recently published book A Clinicians Guide for Treating Active Military and Veteran Populations with EMDR Therapy published by Springer publishing(2020).  He is also a contributing author for two chapters on treating active military and veterans in an EMDR handbook to be published in 2022.




 


While continuing to provide EMDR basic and advanced trainings, Dr. Hurley will be conducting a 2022 world-wide tour of regions where he has previoiusly trained military-related mental health providers in EMDR therapy.  As retired military he will be flying military space-A for an up to date overview of current military issues.  He is developing a network of EMDR military providers as he learns of the current needs while providing advanced EMDR workshops in each region.
